CES 2025 Vision Tech Highlights with .lumen, eSight and Lighthouse Guild

Our first CES 2025 Highlights show featured three expert Vision Tech speakers.

Cornel introduced .lumen, a self-driving headset for the visually impaired, which uses haptics and audio feedback, aiming for a cost of about $10,000. Cornel mentioned a helpful relationship with Nvidia. They were part of the Nvidia Inception program in 2021. “.lumen was included in the opening video at Nvidia GTC as proof of how far assistive tech can reach: on the biggest tech stage of the world”.

Roland discussed eSight, a $4,950 device for central vision loss, fully reimbursed by Veteran Affairs. Roland explained the robust eSight user community.

Bryan highlighted Lighthouse Guild’s services, including medical, rehabilitation, and technology resources, emphasizing the importance of community and advocacy for the visually impaired.

Our discussion also covered the prevalence of vision loss as we age, especially macular degeneration, and the need for early detection. Bryan also explained the difference between the Glide device from Guidance and .lumen which both use haptics.
