How to Save and Share Clubhouse Clips
Update: The Clubhouse Clip function was sunsetted with the September 6, 2023 update. Clips that were taken and posted before then are still working.
Clubhouse app was making a commendable effort to make it easy to share Clubhouse content out onto other social media platforms. One of the tools they have created is Clips. This casual tutorial utilizes an iPhone and a Mac. The clips are all from the Rethinking Aging Club.
How To Take a Clubhouse Clip
On the Clubhouse Replay or during a live Clubhouse room
- Find the scissors at the bottom middle of the Clubhouse room (image 1)
- Tap the scissors as a spoken statement reaches an end point
A graphic will pop up with the person speaking at the center and “Share Clip” button at the bottom (image 2)
- Tap “Share Clip”
A video output screen will come up on your phone (image 3)
- Select “Save Video”
That puts the Clubhouse clip video on your photo camera roll.
How to Use a Clubhouse Clip
For Instagram, obviously you would want to take the video directly from the photo camera roll on your phone.
For apps that allow you to post from your laptop (Twitter, LinkedIn or Facebook) if you prefer, if you are on a Mac, your photo “camera roll” is also on your laptop. Click on the image from photos and select “export” and move to your hard drive to browse and select for Twitter, LinkedIn or Facebook.
When you post the clip, I recommend that you include a link to the full replay of the room the clip was taken from, a tag of the speaker and additional relevant information that fits. For LinkedIn where you have plenty of room for commentary I would use the LinkedIn show post because it contains all of the information about the show including the replay link.
When you select your clip, make sure that the graphic shows the face of the speaker. Early on, I encountered a few I couldn’t use because the wrong face showed up on the graphic, however, I think that is rare now.
Facebook allows you to build a whole gallery of clips
