Longevity: Falls Prevention and Bone Health
September 25th, our focus is Longevity — a broad theme that touches every part of healthy aging. Longevity includes falls prevention, nutrition, bone health, skin health, sexual health, dental health, brain health, multigenerational connection, sleep, and even men’s health.
September 22–26, is Falls Prevention Week, so we’re exploring how balance, movement, and mindset can help us stay strong and steady. In the future we’ll continue unpacking longevity — practical steps we can all take to live longer, healthier, more connected lives. We were joined by three experts.
Jim Brown emphasized making exercise less intimidating, noting only 5% of Americans engage in strength training. Dr. Edythe Heus introduced her Rev6 program, which combines balance and functional neurology, and is being studied for fall prevention. Debi Robinson highlighted the importance of addressing bone health early, noting 50% of people over 50 have bone loss, and advocated for lifestyle changes and functional lab testing over DEXA scans.

(Dr. Edythe) Interoception is the sense that provides awareness and information about the internal state of your body, such as hunger, thirst, pain, temperature, and emotions. It involves sensory signals from organs and tissues being processed by the brain to help maintain homeostasis (the body’s internal balance) and influencing your behavior, emotions, and overall wellbeing.
