Solo Agers Senior Living Support, Retirement Relationship Troubles 9-15-26

Our September 15, 2025 News for the Ages by Rethinking Aging Club episode focused on two topics. First, solo agers – defined as people who don’t have siblings or children in their families to rely on. Integrating new solo agers into senior living communities presents challenges and opportunities.

Ray Gordon offered an interesting suggestion for senior living communities. They could reach out into their local community and see if they can recruit individuals who have interests that they would like to share with residents one-on-one or for a group.

We also discussed challenges that come with married couple relationships with retirement and how people can survive the transition.

Elizabeth mentioned Dignified Aging Strategies in Reno as a support alternative for solo agers. Founded by and staffed by RNs.

We have previously reported on culture-based senior living communities Including Indian culture, Jewish culture, train culture, movie industry culture. This is the June 16, 2026, “News for the Ages” episode where we discussed some of those.
